CAMPING/SUPPLIES Camping in close proximity to the trails is primitive. Most people use Means Dry Lake as a camping site. It is tabletop flat (no leveling of RV's required!) dirt surface that can get horrifically dusty if it gets windy. There is no water and no sanitation facilities are available. On a typical weekend, there may be hundreds of people camped out on the lakebed but as it is very large, there is always more room. On a weekday, you may have the entire lakebed to yourself. The closest supplies and facilities are in Yucca Valley, twenty miles to the south. Gasoline is available in Yucca Valley and there are also a few places on the highway between Boone Road and town where gasoline is usually available. |
